Before we look forward at what you need to do, you need to know what the admissions’ requirements are. Generally speaking, the number of students admitted to each school is limited. Universities are like restaurants, and you don’t want to go to a place where there are too many seats and you have to sit at a table where two people are sitting. The number of seats in the place is based on the number of students admitted to the school. If you want to get into a college that has a lot of seats, then you will have to work hard to compete with others who are also applying.
OK, let’s talk about what you need to do now. You first need to research what admission requirements the school has. The most important thing that you need to do is to make sure that you take the SAT or ACT test. Make sure that you take it in November or December. Take your SAT or ACT test at least ten days prior to the deadline for your application. Keep in mind that you can retake the test if you did not do well on the first time. A certified TOEFL or TOEIC score is required by all graduate programs and most undergraduate programs. If your TOEFL or TOEIC score is not within the range required by the university or school you are applying to, then you may not be admitted. You can retake the test whenever you want, though. There is no penalty for doing so. Being able to take the test outside of the United States is an advantage.
