Keeping Original Character

After a particularly cold winter, we've decided to improve the glazing in our Victorian house. We want better performance, but the original windows are a huge part of the home's character. I'm curious about bespoke options that could work with them. Can anyone recommend somewhere with sealed units and bespoke glass examples from completed restoration projects?

Properly feel this – our Victorian place was an ice rink last winter and we knew something had to give, but the original sash windows are half the reason we bought the house. The dilemma was real trying to balance performance with keeping the character intact, especially on the front elevation. Ended up reaching out via ambgls.co.uk/contact  to chat through options and it was genuinely useful having someone explain their process for heritage properties before we committed. Seeing examples of real Victorian restorations where they'd installed slim sealed units made it click that we didn't have to choose between original features and decent thermal performance. Took that intel to our joiner and suddenly the conversation shifted from vague "we'll figure it out" to specific "this spec matches your period profile." If you're staring at original windows and wondering what's actually possible, speaking to the manufacturer directly beats trying to decode sales pitches or guess from generic gallery photos.
